BERMUDA

Beyond the Beach: A Rich Combination of History and Beauty

Welcome to Bermuda, an island paradise of seven main islands and over 170 islets scattered like gems in the Atlantic, where the ocean shimmers in countless shades of blue. Here, the allure of the sea meets lush landscapes, revealing a world of hidden beaches, rugged rock formations, and an ever-changing horizon that fills the senses with awe.

Beyond its natural beauty, Bermuda offers a fascinating blend of island culture, from pastel-hued colonial buildings to local artistry and cuisine. This is a place where serenity and adventure intertwine, inviting you to experience every nuance of its breathtaking scenery.

Join us as we uncover the wonders of Bermuda - a place as relaxing as inspiring, where every beach, wave, and sunset leaves an impression that lingers long after you’ve left.

Where to stay: This beautiful Airbnb is what you don’t want to miss out on! Unfortunately, in Bermuda there are no hotels with the features we generally look for  - genuine, carefully designed, reasonably small and locally sourced.

Day 1 - First dive into the blue water

Get a cab from the airport towards the center of the island, where you can pick up your scooter or e-vehicle - fun fact: there are no rentals for regular cars for both environmental reasons and safety.

You’re now ready to head to the first, glorious beach: Mermaid Beach.

Once you’ve done enough swimming, snorkeling and relaxing, drive to the center of Hamilton - the capital - to enjoy your fist unforgettable Bermudan sunset at 1609 Bar and Restaurant.

Day 2 - Exploring the East Side of the Island

Getup early and set Tobacco Bay as the first destination on your map- this will be your main bookmark for a morning session of exploration of the East side of the island. On the way to paradise, you can stop at Frequency Cafe and Hub for a coffee and pastry to go.

Once you arrive at Tobacco Bay, you can reserve a spot and a sunbed by the water to enjoy the calm water and go for a nice snorkeling. In fact, the ocean here is warm and the visibility underwater is usually outstanding. The Beach Club has a bar and offers kayaks and snorkel equipment for rental. Bring your favorite book or let you rock by the background music.

Book your lunch spot with a view at Achilles and enjoy a quick dip in the water - the beach is quiet, small and very private. Have a walk in St. George’s old town, and don’t forget to pay a visit to the cute St. Peter’s church.

Dedicate the afternoon to Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve, a natural park with multiple unique beaches. You will need to leave the scooter at Turtle Beach, outside the park, and walk through it. You can look for your private spot but you can’t miss the view from the observation tower at the very end of the island on Long Bay Beach.

Day 3 - The very West Side

Get your morning stretch by the water on Hidden Beach - it will be just you and a lot of longtails, very elegant white birds with a chic black spot on their wings to keep you company with their voice.

When you’re ready to leave this paradise, hop on your scooter and reach Theo’s Cove - you can easily walk a mile in the shallow water enjoying its shades varying from crystal clear to blue to emerald green.

For lunch, grab a fish salad at The New Woodys Sports Bar & Restaurant, a very local and authentic spot on the way to Daniel’s Head Beach Park. If you are lucky enough, you will spot sea turtles here. You will be fascinated by all the abandoned, pastels colored stilt houses on the water - something that still fascinates Bermudians, incredibly friendly people.

Gaze at the horizon and enjoy the sunset from Pastel Bermuda, one of the restaurants of the Cambridge Beaches Resort which offers fresh, local and healthy options.

Day 4 - Rent a boat to discover the Country’s most hidden beauties

Rent a small boat from Blue Hole Water Sports - they proved to be a reliable operator.

Drive yourself to the nearby Castle Island - if you find the courage to wake up early, you’ll be on your own, set for an amazing snorkeling session and to explore the little island and its castle. Enjoy your day here and have dinner with a view at Harbourfront Restaurant.

Day 5 - A last dip and the perfect commute back to the airport

A last dip is what you need before heading back to the airport; stop at Church Bay before going back home.

Our practical suggestions for you

How long: 3-4 days

Season: May-October is best, even though there is no rainy season on the island.

How to travel through the island: Self drive with a scooter or electric car (there are no car rentals on the island).

Practical advice:

  • Remember - especially when you’re approaching a roundabout - that you are driving on British territory and therefore you will need to drive on the left lane!
